A guest asked me to recommend some good books about Texas ghosts, so I thought I would add some here.
To be honest, there aren't a ton of really great books that I have found... The best ghost stories are the ones that are fiction, and usually reporting of ghosts is sketchy at best.
However, Dayne and I used a few books to help guide us on our ghost-hunting vacations...
Haunted Texas Vacations, Lisa Farwell. This is where we learned all about Jefferson, TX, the most haunted small town in Texas. We love that place, and not just for the ghosts - it is truly a charming area up in East Texas. Farwell's stories are in the first-person, telling of her own experiences, kind of like what we do on our ghost tour.
When we were in Jefferson, we met Michel Whitington, who owns the most haunted house in Jefferson (formerly The Grove Restaurant). He also writes books about his experiences with ghosts and stories from around Texas. He has a whole series of them, and the best (in my opinion) is Ghosts of East Texas. Learn more about The Grove, Mitchel, and see his books here: http://thegrove-jefferson.com/.
You can find these books on Amazon.com or even at Half Price Books, probably.

Great site! I just stumbled upon it tonight. I am an Austin-based horror author. We should team up on some cross-promotions sometime. Check out my site and let me know what you think. www.gabriellefaust.com
Best of success to you all!
We live along Brushy Creek along side hgwy 79.
We have seen spirits walking along the railroad tracks and also Indians, when I went to research, I found out there was a Fort (Fort Kenney ?) around Palm Valley where the Luthren Church was and I think that is where there was an Indian -Soldier attack.
There have been a lot of people killed at this railroad intersection on Redbud /79.
I never said anything as I din't want someone to think I am kook.
My neighbor who reads auras and comes from Cherokee heritage brought the same descriptions up of what I had seen.
I even had another friend who drives to work aroun 4 am in the morning and he has described the samd thing on the railroad tracks.
Our subdivision borders the creek and I would really like to know about the history here.
Any suggestions ?
Do you know of any ghosts in Taylor, I visited a friends home and got an encounter of a small boy and the people who are elderly say my friend is not nuts, it has been visited for years.
The grandmother says it is the peanut man "It is dressed like abe lincolnd with top hat", and then ther is a small boy.
I was sitting next to my friend on his couch, his cat's ears went down and my friend said , he's here, the room got cold, and the flowers on the wall swayed back and forth as someone playing with it.
My friend just talks to him and you could feel the cold area go back and forth from me to him as the little boy visited us.
I have always had the "insight" to see and feel things and have not participated in things lately.
Great website. Do you know how I research Ghosts for Taylor or the background for that town?
THanks
